F.A.Q

    What is CBD?

Cannabidiol (CBD) is one of the 120+ cannabinoids produced by the cannabis plant. It is a non-psychoactive molecule different from THC in that it does not beget an intoxicating effect. CBD bonds to the body's natural network of cannabinoid receptors, part of the endocannabinoid system which regulates physiological and cognitive processes, offering support for various ails including but not limited to stress & anxiety, metabolism & appetite, inflammation, pain-sensation, infections, mood, sleep, memory and more.

Are Hemp Lab NYC products vegan and Gluten free?

Yes! At this time all Hemp Lab NYC products are both vegan and gluten free. However, we carry a rotating selection of products in store which may not be. Our team members are available to offer guidance with regard to any dietary restrictions or potential allergens.

    Is CBD safe for pets?

Yes. Animals have an endocannabinoid system too! Pets can benefit greatly from the medicinal properties of CBD, whether they are living with the discomforts of illness/aging or struggling with nervousness. Be sure to keep your pet's body weight & symptoms in mind when dosing as they generally do not require the same dose as humans.

As with all beings, it’s best to start small, gradually increasing your dose until the desired result is achieved.

What is the difference between hemp and marijuana?

Both Hemp and Marijuana are varieties of the cannabis plant. In fact, they are the same species bred for the production of specific characteristics. The federal government has defined these traits as follows: Any cannabis plant containing under .3% Delta 9 THC (the primary psychoactive compound in cannabis) by dry weight volume is legally considered hemp. Any cannabis plant containing over .3% Delta 9 THC by dry weight is legally considered marijuana. Traditionally, hemp has been bred and grown for industrial use. Only in recent years has it been recognized and bred for its cannabinoid content and medicinal value.

What does full spectrum mean and whats the difference between Broad Spectrum and Isolate?

Full Spectrum refers to the spectrum of cannabinoids within any given product, CBD being one of 120+ cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant. When a product is made with full spectrum hemp extract, efforts have been made to extract the maximum cannabinoid content possible from the starting plant material, in turn delivering the widest range of effects.

This increase in efficacy is a consequence of the Entourage effect: the synergistic interaction between various cannabinoids and other whole cannabis derived compounds.

Broad spectrum is similar to full spectrum, the key difference being that efforts have been made to remove any trace of THC from the concentrate. This allows users to benefit from the array of cannabinoids without risking a THC detection on a drug test.

Isolate products are derived from a hemp extraction focused on Cannabinoid Isolation. A CBD Isolate is refined until it contains 99% or more CBD, allowing the user to benefit from CBD with no other cannabinoids present.

Isolate products are ideal for users specifically interested in the benefits of CBD as well as users who are frequently drug tested.

Will I get high from using CBD?

No. You will not get high from using CBD. Using full spectrum products will result in noticeable physical sensations without producing a psychoactive high.

What does Delta 9 THC Mean and how is it different from THC?

Delta 9 THC is the primary psychoactive molecule responsible for the high experience associated with marijuana. THC A is a precursor to delta 9 THC; before THC A can produce a psychoactive effect in the body it must be decarboxylated into delta 9 THC through heating or aging/degradation. The US Farm Bill, which provides regulations on hemp testing, specifies that the Delta 9 THC content must be below .3%. It does not specify THC A or other forms of THC for regulatory classification. Read more about decarboxylation here

    What are terpenes?

It is impossible to pass by a stand of oranges and not experience their citrusy sweet aroma, a result of terpenes: volatile organic compounds produced by plants and even some insects! Cannabis plants possess distinct flavors & odors generated by terpenes as well. Each cannabis strain produces a unique combination of terpenes, influencing both the taste and effect, as terpenes are largely esponsible for directing one's cannabis experience.

A sharp, lemony terpene (Limonene) will provide the user with an energized & refreshing effect, whereas a mellow, lavender-like terpene (Linalool) will provide a more relaxing & sedative effect.

Terpenes also produce a wide range of medicinal benefits, playing a significant role in the synergistic interactions of the entourage effect.

    What are cannabinoids?

There are over 120 cannabinoids produced by the cannabis plant, with more being discovered as research becomes more widely accepted. Each cannabinoid is capable of delivering an array benefits by acting on cannabinoid receptors in the body and altering neurotransmitter release in the brain. As research advances, we continue to learn about the potential applications of cannabinoids and their relationship to other valuable compounds.

    Is CBD safe for Children?

Yes. CBD is safe for children as it does not produce a psychoactive effect on the brain. Hemp and CBD products have no narcotic effect on any user regardless of age. Many parents seek CBD treatment for their children when weary of medicating with marijuana and THC or lacking legal access to cannabis medicines. Depending on what conditions your child is suffering from, medical marijuana and THC treatments may be the most beneficial. It is imperative that you work closely with a physician in formulating a safe and effective treatment for your child. It should be noted that smoking or vaping any CBD product under the age of 18 is not recommended and is prohibited in most areas. Smoking and vaping can negatively affect the development of your child.

Any smoking or vaping product sold by Hemp Lab NYC is not intended for consumption by minors.

You must be 18 years or older to purchase from Hemp Lab NYC.
